Discovering and embodying my human design has been one of the most expansive and impactful paradigm shifts I’ve ever experienced. In this post, I’ll explain human design and how it can support you, especially if you are a creative entrepreneur.
Keep in mind human design is a very complex and intricate system, so this post is meant to provide a high-level overview of the system and its benefits.
What is Human Design?
Human Design (HD) is a spiritual tool that looks at a variety of spiritual traditions and modalities, including the positioning of the planets when you were born to create a map of your body and how energy flows within it (aka your ‘BodyGraph’)
HD is not like an enneagram or personality test that tries to sort or categorize you into a tidy box – EVERY soul is unique, and HD reflects that.
Your HD Bodygraph is like a map of your soul that shows you how you energetically function, how to make decisions best, how you’ll learn best, how you will most effectively have your message heard, the greater themes you’re going to face in life, and the greater role you’re designed to embody in the collective.
Think of this as your map to the trove of treasures deep within your soul: your gifts and how you’re designed to share them with the world.
The Science of Differentiation + Discovery of HD
HD is sometimes referred to as the Science of Differentiation because many elements impact your chart, reflecting just how one-of-a-kind, unique and different you really are. When you understand your own design, you are also learning about the specific gifts you were brought here with and are meant to share with the world.
While Human Design is based on multiple spiritual and ancient modalities, such as the I’Ching, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, and the Chakras, the HD system was discovered by Ra Uru Hu in 1987 during a period of deep enlightenment.
While HS is based on some spiritual traditions, it’s not affiliated with religion in any way.
The Benefits of Uncovering + Embodying Your Human Design
Understanding and embodying your Human Design is truly like a homecoming back to who you were always meant to be before you were conditioned to be otherwise. When you have your chart read it genuinely feels like you’re receiving a validating permission slip to be as you have always wanted to be.

- You begin to really flow through life rather than face resistance
- You know exactly how to make decisions, so you end up making aligned decisions
- You know exactly how to share your message to be best received

How is My Design determined?
Your Human design is calculated using your birth data. This will create a BodyGraph illuminating your defined/ undefined energetic centres, as well as your Human Design Type, Authority, Strategy, Profile and more.
Your Human Design shows you:
- how you’re designed to move through the world (your type)
- how you’ll best interact with others + the world to experience true FLOW (your strategy)
- the way you’re meant to make decisions (your authority)

The Human Design Types:
Your human design type is determined based on the particular balance you have of defined and undefined energetic centres. Based on your energetic design type, there is a big picture energetic role that you are designed to play in the collective:
- Manifestor: the great ideators meant to create big-picture visions for society
- Generator: the busy bee builders of society
- Manifesting Generator: multi-passionate creators of society
- Projector: guides of society
- Reflector: the mirrors back to society
The Human Design Strategies:
Your STRATEGY is how you’re designed to interact with others in the world, and the best way for you to genuinely attain a state of flow.
Your STRATEGY is defined by your human design type, as follows:
- To Inform = Manifestors
- To Respond = Generators + MGs
- To Wait for the Invitation = Projectors
- To Wait for a Lunar Cycle = Reflectors
The Human Design Authorities:
The third core element of your preliminary Human Design chart is your authority, which reflects how you’re designed to make decisions.
As someone with emotional authority, I can attest to the fact that understanding your authority is integral to making aligned decisions. Tapping into your authority ensures you never really make a ‘wrong’ decision in the greater ‘plan’ of your life.
The 7 authorities are:
- Emotional
- Sacral
- Splenic
- Ego/ Heart
- Self
- Mental/ Environmental
- Lunar/ No Inner Authority
Your Design is BEAUTIFUL
There is no good or bad human design – every single type, authority, strategy and other elements has unique strengths. There are, of course, challenges and elements of conditioning that each person will be more susceptible to based on your design, but understanding your HD and really embracing it is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself, especially energetically.
