So far on the blog, we’ve covered what human design is and how it can support you as a creative entrepreneur. Now, I want to introduce you to my latest series, where I’ll slowly break down each type in human design.
If you’re just tuning in, Human Design (HD) is a spiritual tool that looks at a variety of spiritual traditions and modalities, including the positioning of the planets when you were born to create a map of your body and how energy flows within it (aka your ‘BodyGraph’). Your HD Bodygraph is like a map of your soul that shows you how you energetically function, how to make decisions best, how you learn best, how you will most effectively have your message heard, the greater themes you’re going to face in life, and the greater role you’re designed to embody in the collective.
If you don’t know your Human Design yet, be sure to look your’s up for free now, as it will allow you to gain greater insights from the remainder of this post.
Your human design type is determined based on the particular balance you have of defined and undefined energetic centres. Based on your energetic design type, there is a big picture energetic role that you’re designed to play in the collective:
In this post, we will explore The Projector in Human Design. Why are we starting there? Well, I am a projector myself, so quite honestly, this is the type I can speak to the most from my personal experience. But if you’re not a projector, don’t worry – we will explore every single type over the next few posts!
Every type in Human Design plays an important role in the collective. Consider this as well the greater theme of your life’s work.
Projectors are incredible seers. They therefore provide insightful, deep guidance for all of the other types in the human design kingdom and make up about 22% of the world’s population.
The projector has a very clear role: to guide. Though this makes for incredible coaches, leaders =, mentors and guides, you don’t have to be a projector to be a great guide and you don’t have to be a coach if you’re a projector. There are many ways to embrace this role however you desire to live your life.
The projector has an incredibly strong gift of sight that is so incredibly intense and on-point, often allowing the projector to see others clearer than they see themselves, which is why projectors are designed to wait to be invited to go there with the people ready to receive their wisdom. More on that soon!
First things first: it’s totally normal to have elements of your human design that you don’t really resonate with, so if you don’t align with every single one of these ‘traits’, it doesn’t make you any ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than other projectors. Just like projectors aren’t ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than any other human design type. All designs have beautiful, unique strengths, and challenges.
But that said, here are some of the typical ‘traits of projectors:
Strengths:
Challenges:
While your authority, profile, and particular arrangement of defined and open centres will be unique to you, all projectors will share the strategy of waiting for the invitation.
In a society that has encouraged us that initiating is the only way to make things happen, this can be a hard shift for Projectors to make once they learn about their design.
But here’s the thing: waiting for the invitation doesn’t mean waiting around. It means waiting to share your deep wisdom and opinions with those who are ready for it. It means waiting for the invitation before making significant changes to your lifestyle, career, relationship, or other big-picture areas of your life.
When an invitation appears (and note, this won’t be a formal invitation necessarily, but an opportunity or ‘sign’, an email or a message, a phone call…) the key is to tap into your unique authority. This is the only real way of knowing if the invitation is an aligned one.
And while in between invitations, Projectors are designed to study and rest so they’re ready to share their wisdom upon the next aligned invitation.
Projectors all share the same ‘signature’ and ‘not self’ themes in human design. These areas of our chart are what I like to call ‘warning lights’ on our dashboard. As we’re moving along through life, when one of these appears, it’s simply an indicator as to whether you’re living true to your unique human design or not. The ‘not-self theme’ is a sign that you are out of alignment with your design, and for projectors, this is the feeling of BITTERNESS. Simply see this as a warning light on your dashboard, a sign to pull over and get back into alignment. Conversely, the feeling of SUCCESS is your signature theme, an indicator that you are living true to your design. When you experience the feeling of success you can know that you’re on track.
Also, when you doubt your path or your potential, remind yourself of this: SUCCESS is written into my design.
Returning to who you were born as, at a soul level, before societal conditioning got in the way. EMBODYING your design feels like you’re finally swimming with the current, rather than against it.
