Wait: What is Human Design?
Human Design (HD) is a spiritual tool that looks at various spiritual traditions and modalities, including the positioning of the planets when you were born, to create a map of your body and how energy flows within it (aka your ‘BodyGraph’). Our HD Bodygraph is like a map of your soul that shows you how you energetically function, how to make decisions best, how you learn best, how you will most effectively have your message heard, the greater themes you’re going to face in life, and the greater role you’re designed to embody in the collective.

Your human design type is determined based on the particular balance you have of defined and undefined energetic centres. Based on your energetic design type, there is a big picture energetic role that you’re designed to play in the collective:
- Manifestor: the great ideators meant to create big-picture visions for society
- Generator: the busy bee builders of society
- Manifesting Generator: multi-passionate creators of society
- Projector: guides of society
- Reflector: the mirrors back to society
In this post, we will explore The Manifestor type in Human Design.
The Manifestor = The Visionary of Society
Manifestors are society’s great ideators—visionaries who designed to blaze a new trail and new ways of being for others. Fiercely independent and resistant to being told what to do, manifestors thrive as either lone wolves or as the overall visionary with a team supporting them to execute their visions into reality.
This is because, like Projectors, Manifestors are a non-energy type (when the sacral centre is undefined) – this means that they’re not designed to function in the way our Generator-dominant society does. Manifestors are designed to follow their urges, pass the baton to a teammate to continue running with the idea, and rest until they have their next urge. That’s why Manifestors thrive in roles that allow them to be the bigger visionary rather than the one doing all the work.
On the Bodygraph:
The (technical) defining characteristics of a manifestor = a motor-to-throat connection (aka a defined channel connecting a “motor” centre in your human design chart other than your sacral directly to your throat) and 2) an undefined sacral centre.
Manifestor Superpower: Ability to Act + Manifest Freely
The other types in the human design kingdom must wait before acting based on their unique strategy. But the manifestor’s strategy is to inform – meaning they can act freely to manifest and create whatever they desire without waiting for anyone or anything to do so. This is how the manifestor gets their name!
This is because of the unique feature that only Manifestors and Manifesting-Generators have in their bodygraph which is their motor-to-throat connection – aka a defined channel that connects the energy from one of their motor centres directly to the throat where it can be acted upon, expressed upon and manifested.
That said, if the manifestor doesn’t tap into their strategy of informing then they will likely face resistance or struggle to build trust with those surrounding them. This is just one of the ways that embodying your human design supports your relationships with others.
Informing
The strategy of the manifestor is to inform. This is not to be confused with asking for permission (unless it’s a child, in which case this actually is the ‘inform’ strategy’s first stage in childhood).
The manifestor is designed to inform whoever their decision will impact before making it – they don’t have to gain the approval of others – but this will help them limit resistance and build trust with those in their life.
Typical Strengths & Challenges for Manifestors
Strengths:
- The manifestor can create, act and initiate without waiting on anyone or anything (though they’re designed to inform whoever will be impacted of their decisions)
- They have a great power of seeing things in new ways
- Very independent and autonomous- they really value their freedom
- Strong innovators– here to do things differently and provide ways for others to do so.
- Powerful visionaries who can help themselves and others create powerful visions for living an intentional life.
Challenges:
- Manifestors have an undefined sacral centre (as opposed to Generators and Manifesting-Generators who have this centre defined) – this means they simply aren’t designed to function energetically in this same way – and will burn out if they try to keep up with “sacral beings”
- Manifestors really dislike being told what to do! That’s often due to the fact that they’ve been inadvertently controlled for alot of their lives
- Without awareness, manifestors will struggle to manage their energy because they function in a really unique way.
