When it comes to finding our passion and purpose, many of us feel tremendous pressure because of the rhetoric that’s so pervasive in our society. Most ‘advice’ or guidance you see about discovering your soul’s purpose is either way too vague (“just follow your joy!”) or way too rigid (“find ways to monetize your passion!”). It’s time for a more grounded approach to pursuing your passion… enter human design.
Ultimately, your soul’s purpose is your greater sense of purpose in life, which is why rooting yourself in your human design can allow for that to emerge or clarify. You’re Closer Than You Think
As I said, our purpose isn’t some final destination but more something we embody. You’re likely closer to your purpose than you think you are. Some “signs” that may show you’re close to your purpose even if you feel lost right now are:
- feeling a call to transform or change in some way
- an increasing sensitivity to what feels no longer aligned
- a craving for more depth, more creativity and more authenticity in your life and work
Your Purpose Isn’t Found, It’s Remembered
Human design is a spiritual tool that helps you remember who you are – aka who you were born as before societal and familial conditioning began. Your purpose is baked into your DNA, living in your body. There may have been times when you felt or saw that passion flicker, but maybe you were taught to pursue something more ‘practical’ for your career and lost that spark.
The clues of our purpose are often found in early desires, things we keep hidden in ourselves or creative callings we have.
Let me use myself as an example. As a soul’s purpose coach, I get to help people transform into their fullest, most THEM selves. It’s common for my clients to break into tears in a human design or coaching session because they’re finally breaking through to their authentic selves. I feel a deep sense of fulfillment, feeling like I deeply helped someone feel supported and seen. I remember from an early age feeling this desire to be a helper or healer but didn’t feel it was practical or that I was ‘strong enough’ to do this work (as I struggled deeply with anxiety as a child and young woman). Part of me felt like if I’ve struggled to support myself emotionally and with my own sense of purpose, how could I help others? It’s ironic because now, I know the total opposite is true. I’m better suited than anyone to talk about these deep feelings and emotions and the journey to your purpose because I deeply understand how it feels to be on the other side.

- The archetypes you’ll embody as you pursue your purpose (your profile)

- Journaling, either just free-writing what is coming up in your mind or using guided prompts
- Attuning yourself to your body’s “yes” and “no.”
- Paying more attention to areas where synchronicity shows up
- Giving yourself permission to evolve
- Practice active reflection on your experiences to consider what left the most significant impact on you
- Create a gratitude habit or ritual that allows you to see over time which experiences and moments mean the most to you

The bottom line is always remember that your purpose isn’t anything external you must go hunting for; it’s within you. Instead of continually looking outside of yourself for answers, lean more into the whispers and nudges within you and cultivate the internal trust to allow yourself to see what is already unfolding.
