You’ve been hearing about human design all over the place + decided to look up your type, and discovered you’re a projector… welcome, sweet seer. I’m so glad you’re here because you’re in the right place. In this post, I candidly share what it means and feels like to be a projector in human design so you can best support yourself (or the projector) in your life! As a 4/6 Emotional Projector, I’m here to share from both my human design expertise and personal experience.
I can vividly remember the feeling of validation that washed over me when I was told that I was a projector and introduced to what that meant by a reader. The first ‘a-ha’ moments are real…
I felt so seen and understood. Yet, I didn’t fully let the reality of it all seep into how I actually showed up in my life and business. While I could readily adopt some of the practices I learned about (like allowing myself to sleep on big decisions as I have emotional authority), I didn’t fully embrace my projector nature in my business.
For many projectors, the first a-ha moment of feeling, as seen when you find out you’re a projector, rapidly turns into questioning. Can this be real? Can I really work fewer hours, still get everything done, and succeed? How will anything ever happen if I’m always waiting for an invitation?
It’s hard to decondition and disconnect from what we’ve always known, so if you’ve been feeling some resistance or confusion about embodying your true projector nature, keep reading.
One of the characterizing elements of what it means to be a Projector is that we have an undefined sacral centre – this means that our access to the get-up-and-go, life force energy is inconsistent and varies each day. But this doesn’t mean projectors are ‘lazy’ or have no energy. It just works differently.
As a Projector, you’ll thrive when you limit your work hours to a few focused daily. Learning to trust this and decondition from the hustle and bustle of our capitalist society takes time and energy – but the more you can do this, the more you’ll see how naturally efficient you are. Then, you can use the time in between to work on self-validating, studying, and resting to truly hone, honour, and integrate your potent gifts. This is why self-employment is a popular choice for many Projectors.
You see people incredibly clearly and deeply as a projector, so you’re meant to await an invitation before sharing your insights or guidance with others. But when you are invited to share, your insights will allow people to feel incredibly seen as you can deeply feel the other person’s energy. This can also manifest in interesting ways like complete strangers feeling drawn to open up to you about surprisingly deep things (this is a weekly occurrence in my life).
Some of the most outstanding leaders in modern history, like Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela, are (were) Projectors. Projectors are known for their ability to see the big picture and offer personalized, insightful guidance on how things could be done more effectively and efficiently.
I absolutely love being a Projector – but before I knew I was a Projector, I felt like something was wrong with me because I kept burning out repeatedly and wasn’t ‘cut out’ for running my own business because of it. But now that I’ve optimized my entire life and creative business around my human design, I see that WHEN I HONOUR MY PROJECTOR ENERGY, things feel easy, fun, and aligned (in ALL areas of our lives!)
As a Projector, some of the best things to work on are practicing deconditioning the feeling that you have to work more to get where you want to go and cultivating deep self-recognition in your skills and what you offer.
As a Projector myself, I offer a unique insight into what it really means to live as a projector, and it would be my absolute honour to hold space for you in a guided reading.
