The Role of The Divine Feminine In Creativity

An important preliminary note on gender: The ‘divine feminine,’ a spiritual energetics concept, plays an instrumental role in anyone’s creativity.

Throughout human history, things like gender have been used incredibly exclusively and divisively, which is not what the divine feminine (or this blog) wishes to perpetuate. When I discuss and use language such as ‘feminine,’ ‘she,’ or ‘her,’ in this post, please know that I am not referring to gender or excluding anyone from the discussion. This concept applies to all who wish to embrace it. <3

What Is The Divine Feminine?

The ‘divine feminine’ is a spiritual concept that reveres and celebrates the feminine counterpart to the long-dominating patriarchal society. Also known as goddess energy, it is celebrated throughout ancient and modern cultures.

The divine feminine’s essence is finding our sense of strength and wisdom through softness. This is counterintuitive to how the majority of us were raised, but it has been identified by spiritual teachers for generations as being something essential for us to adopt to get back to our true nature.

A few other qualities of the divine feminine:

• Softness
• Compassion
• Wisdom
• Creativity
• Kindness

A Major Misconception

While we already touched on gender, it’s important to make it incredibly clear that this concept is not limited to women or female-identifying folks. This beautiful energy is essential for every person, no matter how they identify!

Throughout human history, we’ve seen the acceptance of the divine feminine move through waves. Before the advent of western religion, the concept was much more revered, as it has been in Eastern cultures for centuries. Suffiice to say, this is no new concept.

A Note on Polarities

This world is based on polarities:

Light/ Dark

Day/ Night

Sun/ Moon

Hot/ Cold

North/ South

And the same is valid with the divine feminine and it’s polar: the divine masculine. Like in any other polarity, balance is integral. While there is so much beauty to be had here, we also need to balance that with the beauty of the divine masculine.

If we are too much in the masculine, we can get aggressive or domineering, while too much time in the feminine can lead to feelings of inertia and stagnation from taking action.

The Balance of Divine Masculine + Feminine

If we were only to operate out of our feminine, we wouldn’t ever get much done! We need the divine masculine’s stability, structure and drive to balance out the divine feminine’s softness, creativity, and magic intuitive abilities.

It’s like any other polarity; we wouldn’t want to experience only night or day. Hot or cold. There’s beauty in balance.

The Divine Feminine + Creativity

The divine feminine thrives off of time and space to create and rest. The thing is that when you’re deeply connected to the soft gentleness of the divine feminine, you’re also able to be at ease to receive the creative inspiration you desire. You are more creative and resourceful when you’re more relaxed internally, and at ease.

But the paradox here is that allowing yourself to create in flow freely is one of the best ways to access your divine feminine! So let yourself to create to play simply, and see how that brings you closer to her.

If you don’t identify as artistic, you can always try something as simple as colouring to get yourself attuned to the creative abundance of the feminine. But remember: arts isn’t the only way to be creative – you can trust your intuition to create in ways that make sense to you. And if you’re a human being, you are creative.
