Mantras and affirmations are powerful tools for transforming your life in that they help you rewire habitual ways of being and stubborn thought patterns. A “mantra” tends to be used interchangeably with ”affirmation”(and can be thought of similarly), but there is a nuance between the two…
An affirmation tends to be framed in I am” language and is a way of working with thoughts and beliefs about yourself and speaking to yourself with kind and transformative self-talk. A mantra tends to be more about our greater ideas about life, the universe and the world’s workings.

In this post, I’m sharing some of my favourite affirmations and mantras that have changed the lives of myself and my clients.
See these as inspiration and make them your own… an affirmation or mantra is only effective if it’s speaking to you in a peaceful and inspiring way.
Before you read on, consider the areas in your life where you are most drawn to bringing in the work of affirmations, such as self-worth and confidence, creativity and career, or love and relationships.
If you’re a scientific person and want to know the facts behind the power of affirmations, MRI evidence suggesting that certain neural pathways are increased when we practice receiting affirmations as the ventromedial prefrontal cortex—involved in positive valuation and self-related information processing—becomes more active when we’re considering our personal values (This information is based on the Falk et al., 2015; Cascio et al., 2016 study, linked here).
More qualitatively, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that affirmations and mantras are a tool that has radically transformed the lives of my clients and myself. For many of us, the first wound that we shine a light on with affirmations is our sense of self-worth, by working with the affirmation “I am enough” and slowly building up to the belief that you are MORE than enough and ALWAYS enough.
While these words of affirmation and mantras are beautiful, unless they become part of your everyday life and routine, they really won’t be sustainable… Here are some coaching tips from me to you in order to really integrate your affirmations and/or mantras into your life.
