Creating daily rituals and habits is a great way to really start off your day for success as a creative entrepreneur. However, what’s important here is that you discover and hone habits that make you feel good.
That’s why, before I share my daily habits, I want to preface something right within the title… the word ‘Success.’ Before we go any further, this needs to be said…
What success means to you is not what it means to me – and that’s good! We all must take the time to define what our version of success looks like. Not your best friend’s definition, or the ideal that you were told as a child. Not the top economists’ explanations.YOURS.
One of my favourite learnings from Simon Sinek’s incredible book, Start with Why, is his breakdown of how achievement and success are not the same things.
“Achievement happens when we pursue and attain what we want. Success comes when we are in clear pursuit of why we want it.”
– Simon Sinek
… I felt it essential we first have this heart-to-heart on success so that you know when I use ‘success’ in this post, I’m encouraging you to frame what that means in your own words.
This post will consider ‘success’ as being healthy, soulful, and fulfilled. But feel free to adapt this definition for yourself!
Think of these tips as merely 6 things that I personally do daily that I attribute to my success with my physical, spiritual, and business health.
Gratitude opens the door to the power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe. You open the door through gratitude.
– Deepak Chopra
Start every day by making a list (with actual pen+paper!) of 10 things you’re grateful for. Avoid writing down the same 10 items every day. This will be challenging when you first get started… but the more you do it, the more gratitude you’ll begin to feel.
It’s so important to do this every day because we’re really taking the time to train our minds to make gratitude our default state of mind.
Many mindfulness experts and spiritual leaders also say that gratitude leads to abundance and truly attracts what you want more in your life.
The more you appreciate what you have, the more you become a magnet for what you desire.
Another beautiful thing about making gratitude your default state of mind is that it truly gives you something to turn to when you need it most.
Think of those challenging moments we all face as online entrepreneurs … *cough* imposter syndrome, doubt, feeling like giving it all up. Instead of focusing on what isn’t working, our gratitude practice allows us to focus on what is already beautiful and good in our lives. This will enable us to exit that spiral and get back to doing what we love to do!
Finally, there’s always the benefits that gratitude has on our physical well being. The health benefits of gratitude include a reduction in stress and improvements in sleep, relationships and self-esteem. What’s there not to love?
The funny thing is that we all start our online businesses, so we don’t have to play by the rules, rush to work in the morning, or ignore our own personal needs. But when our business gets busy, how quickly do we jump to work in the morning, with our half-drank-cup-of-coffee?
I know I’ve been guilty of it and then entering a work vortex only to emerge 3 hours later, like … when did I last drink water?!
I make a significant effort to not let that happen anymore!
Ensuring you’re keeping hydrated throughout the day is so freaking important not just for your physical health but also for your energy, focus, and mental state. In my mind, drinking enough water a day is one of the simplest ways to improve your health this year!
Since I’ve made hydration a core focus, I’ve enjoyed clearer skin, a healthier mind and body, and better focus throughout my workday.
Drink up!
… and don’t be afraid to create boundaries to really protect your basic needs like this.
Get to know your body and the amount of sleep you really need to prioritize your wellbeing. Remember the old adage… you cannot pour from an empty cup. To truly show up to serve your clients and your community, you must first serve YOURSELF. You must pour into YOUR cup.
Sleep and rest time is one of the most essential aspects of this process.
Wondering how much sleep you really need? Aim for 7-9 hours.
Sleep is essential, yes, but as is time to rest your body. Whether that be time to watch your favourite show or to sit with a book, create this space for yourself.
Because that’s the thing about being the boss… Only YOU can give this gift of rest to yourself.
And your clients will feel how you feel. Unrested, unmotivated, burned out? They’ll feel it. Alive, rested, rejuvenated – they’ll really feel it.
I have a rule of thumb in my business: even if I have a day where I cannot focus or be productive, I at least do this one thing*…
Interact with a dream client every day.
This is one way to really ensure you’re ‘moving the needle’ forward for your business and not setting unrealistic expectations on yourself.
Because we all have those days where we can’t get as much ‘done’ as we planned, or we don’t get the desired result we had in mind.
This must be a dream client interaction because when we tap into the energy of who we would love to really work with (no matter if they’re a big brand or a small business), it helps us get in the state of what we want to be attracting. It gets you into that energy of your business’s next level while also generating some leads for your business throughout the process (when you commit to doing this daily).
*aside from serving my badass clients, of course!
As a copywriter, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been asked the question “How do I become a better writer?” or “what’s the best writing tip you can give me?” And this is always it… READ EVERY SINGLE DAY. Even if it’s just a few pages.
I WOULD NOT BE THE WRITER I AM TODAY HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY STEADFAST READING HABIT
From the day I learned how to read, to this day, I’ve never spent a day where I did not read at least a little bit.
Now I get you have busy lives, but I promise you that you have time for this. You know that first 15 minutes when you wake up and the last 15 minutes before you go to bed? Many people I know spend this time checking their phone notifications. Why not swap out that time for something that will make you feel more creative, imaginative and excellent?! If you’re new to daily reading or crunched for time, keep your book by your bed. Read first thing before bed and first thing in the morning.

If you start a gratitude journal, like in my first point, then you’re already on the way!
This doesn’t need to be extensive, but I really encourage you, from both a creative process and soulful mindset perspective, to write daily. I like to do this by keeping a journal, but you could do this as a creative writing exercise.
Writing daily makes it easier for you to get used to writing for your own business, lets your creative juices flow, and get the ideas out of your head onto pen and paper.
This ensures you can
Writing and being open to exploring ourselves in our writing is also beautiful from a soulful perspective as it allows us to get to know ourselves better.
New to journaling? Here are a few prompts for you to get started…
Remember – you are more than enough already. Your version of success isn’t the same as mine or anyone else. That’s beautiful!

I’ve dedicated my life to telling stories, uncovering the stories within us, and unleashing them in either copy or coaching.
Journaling allows you to… * Rewire limiting habitual ways of being * Give spotlight to your intuition’s voice * Provide a solstice of self-care * and develop a resilient mindset These prompts are here to guide you when you need to dig deep into your own resilience and self-love.
