Looking for tips for writing website copy quickly? Sometimes you just don’t have the luxury of taking the time to brainstorm, conceptualize and draft your copy slowly and intentionally. Perhaps it’s that you’ve got an incredible business idea and want to get yourself up and launched. Maybe it’s that you left your copy until the last minute, and now the launch date you set is creeping up scarily close?
Whatever brings you here, welcome! I’m here to help.
As a website copywriter for creatives, I understand that you don’t always have the luxury of time when it comes to creating your website copy. So here are 5 tips for when you need to write your website copy quickly…
Even if you don’t have a ton of time to write your website copy, you still need to have a plan. You can pull up my free workbook, 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Writing Your Website Copy, as an awesome starting point.
Once you’ve gone through these questions for yourself, there are also fundamental questions that your website copy must answer (check out tip #2 for these!). This is why planning is so important.

If you’re writing website copy with tight time constraints, then you’re going to want to prioritize making sure that you answer the absolutely fundamental questions that your website copy must answer.
**Keep in mind, these are just a few of the pieces you can begin with. Your website copy should cover much, much more than this!
This is the best tip I can give for creating copy quickly… write now, edit later! If you think you hate writing, or you’re not good at it, odds are it’s because you’re putting wildly unjust expectations on yourself.
When you try to nail every single phrase perfectly from the beginning, it’s going to take you ages and ages to create that dream copy! Instead, sit down with a blank Google Doc and let yourself simply get the words out of your heart and onto {ahem metaphorical?} pen and paper.
Before you go to edit a single word, let the copy marinate and your own brain digest what you’ve written. Wait at least 1 day before editing.
A major reason why many creatives take so long to create their website copy and launch their website is that they feel it has to be “perfect.”
Let me ask you… what is perfect?
It literally doesn’t exist.
My definition of “perfect” isn’t your definition of “perfect.” What looks “perfect” to me may not look “perfect” to you. Do you see what I’m saying? Perfection is entirely subjective.
As entrepreneurs, we need to break up with this idea of ‘perfect‘ because waiting for perfect really means we’re waiting around for something that doesn’t exist. Done is better than perfect, as they say!
Now, this doesn’t mean your website copy can be littered with spelling and grammar errors! No way! That’s why tools like Grammarly exist and make it much easier for you to create website copy quickly and efficiently, error-free.
Going off point 4, the beauty of website copy is that you can continually add to it, improve upon it, and revise it. I actually encourage you to come back to it every 6 months or so to see if you can…
There are some very important questions to ask yourself and elements you need to gain clarity on before you begin DIYing your own copy in your creative business. This free workbook is here to guide you through that process!
