I absolutely love my website copy day rate experience, Copywriter for the Day, because it allows my clients and me to work alongside each other closely for a day and have high converting storytelling copy come out of it – after just ONE day.
I often have prospective clients for the day rate ask… “Ok, Lauri, so I get that we’ll have my website copy done in a day… but like how? What will it look like?”
While I have an entire page on my website dedicated to Copywriter for the Day, I decided to write this post to take you more behind the scenes of what the day looks like together.
We can either chat over email, social media, or video chat to discuss your website and make sure that a day rate is perfect for you. If you’re looking to have the 3 core website pages written (Home, About, Services), then a day rate is usually perfect for you! For larger websites, I typically recommend breaking it into multiple-day rates or a full project.
After we’ve had a chat to make sure the program is right for you, I’ll send you over your paperwork to lock in your date. All you need is to sign the contract and pay the invoice, and we’re all set!
I’ll also send you my signature deep dive brand questionnaire for you to complete at any point before our day together. This is meant to be a brain dump and not something you have to fill out in full, perfectly formed sentences – that’s my job! The best part is that you can save drafts of your questionnaire so that you can complete it over multiple sittings.
All you need to do to prep for your day rate is:
Grab your coffee (or beverage of your choice!) and join me for the first hour of our day rate together (9-10 am est typically). I’ll ask you any and all questions I need to fill in any gaps from your brand questionnaire. I’ll also ask you to tell me stories about your work, experiences, brand origins, and more.
This is a super organic, natural and friendly conversation. I pride myself on ensuring I create a safe and comfortable space for you to relax, lean in and tell me some of your stories!
In this call, we’ll also determine your keywords for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes*, determine any layout considerations we have to make with your website template or custom design. Finally, we’ll go through the list of copy you’d like created and rank your priorities for the day ahead.

After this call, you get to go back to doing whatever you feel like, and I’ll get writing!
*Keep in mind that we simply do basic SEO research and optimization for a day rate due to time constraints. That said, we’ll solidify the foundation for you to grow from by selecting your keywords so I can naturally use them throughout your website copy and include them in essential spaces like your H1 headers and meta descriptions.
Time for me to work my magic! For 3 hours, I immerse myself deep into your copy and write the pages that we’ve agreed upon based on the prioritization we gave each during the strategy session.

This is where it gets really good. One of the reasons that both my clients and I love this part is that I read your copy aloud to you and allow you to sit back, relax and experience it. Yes, I’ll let you read it too, of course! But there’s something so special and important about being able to listen to and perceive your copy as your reader will.
